DOOR WORKS / PLANNED WITH THE CARE TEAM

Door condition.
Everyday use. Resident access.

Bedrooms, corridors and shared facilities can have different access and use patterns. A clear schedule helps the care team and contractor agree where work is proposed and which arrangements need attention before attendance.

Share the relevant assessment, strategy and door schedule with the person managing the premises. We review the proposed work, site requirements and access arrangements before confirming the scope and programme.

01

Fire door surveys

Survey the agreed doors and record findings against bedroom, corridor or other location references. Explain any restricted areas or resident access needs in advance so visits can be planned with the care team.

02

Fire door installation

Review new or replacement fire door sets against the agreed specification and opening. Identify the required hardware, finishes and any door-control interfaces so the whole proposed assembly can be considered before installation is agreed.

03

Maintenance & repairs

Investigate closing faults and wear to seals or fittings. Repairs should be appropriate to the assembly and site requirements, with any further investigation or replacement need identified as part of the proposed scope.

04

Fire risk assessments

Bring the existing fire risk assessment and strategy into the discussion of door works. If a new assessment is required, the care setting, resident needs and complexity must be reviewed before the assessment service is agreed.

05

Carpentry & joinery

Door surrounds, linings, architraves and other joinery can be included where appropriate to the brief. Identify finishes and cleaning requirements, items to retain and any restrictions on materials or work areas before the scope is priced.

PROJECT PLANNING / RESIDENTIAL CARE

Plan the work
around daily care.

A maintenance detail from our media gallery. In a care setting, the proposed door works also need a clear plan for access, supervision and daily routines.

DOOR MAINTENANCE DETAIL / FROM OUR MEDIA GALLERY

A considered scope.
A coordinated visit.

An occupied care setting needs coordination between the person specifying the door works and the team responsible for residents. Identify the doors, agreed priorities and the contacts who can approve room access and working arrangements.

Share the care team's requirements for room access, supervision, noise and material storage. Door work should be planned within the building's agreed safety arrangements, with temporary arrangements and any change to the sequence reviewed by the responsible site team.

A PRACTICAL PLAN / FROM BRIEF TO HANDOVER

Coordinate with
the care team.

Send the home address, door references, relevant reports and a named management contact. Explain which areas are occupied and who can approve access and proposed working arrangements.

Include room-availability windows, staff handovers, visiting arrangements and contractor induction requirements. Tell us about any specialist door controls or interfaces that need coordination with another contractor. These details help establish what can be scheduled and what needs further review first.

01

Review the findings

Send the door schedule, relevant reports and required specification. Identify the rooms and shared spaces included in the proposed work.

02

Plan with the team

Agree who coordinates room access, supervision and working areas. Discuss noise, storage and the routines that affect the programme.

03

Record the outcome

We document the agreed work and flag remaining concerns or recommendations for the responsible management or property team.
